The first necromorph to wash up was a victim that had been infected in earth Govs earlier attempts to extract the marker. The necromorphs killed and infected whoever they could. Once the marker shards were found and brought within the vicinity of the corpses on the Ishimura the sludge began to reanimate again. The marker shards didnt cause the outbreak on the salvage ships. Infectors are the fastest way create a necromorph, it's just not the only way. The soldiers would have been running and panicking from this enemy, not bothered by their bullets or their attempts at head shots, and the reanimated dead crew will do the same. It would have killed whoever got in it's way, infecting them with this microbe, then they die and the marker signal gives the microbe its energy to do its job. So the slasher in the pod was still active. The necromorphs derive their energy from the marker, this is what the recombinant does, it creates a microbe capable of harnessing the markers energy. It was this alteration of its magnetic field that allowed the markers signal to be felt by the crew of the valor. When aegis 7 was cracked its magnetic field was altered (this is what damaged the kellion). But in all cases the marker does not turn anyone. The outbreak in dead space 2 was caused by unitologists sabotaging earth Gov project telomere labs near the mines, releasing the infected and the recombinat, and sabotaging bodies from the churches crypts. In dead space 1, it wasnt until people were killed and infected did change happen. But the outbreak in martyr, started when infection by this recombinant happened.
The recombinat has been studied as much as the marker. In every case of an outbreak it's the mixing of the marker signal and this recombinant. This is down to what's called the recombinant. I dont care what's in the wiki (or even understand why it's still there.) There is not one instance in any of the games or books that shows the marker causing mutations. The marker does not cause the transformation into a necromorph. Even when fully trained soldiers and guards are about, when faced with necromorphs things end very bad very quick, even when its just one of them.īut let me start by saying this (of the many many times I've said this).
Reading the books gives you a much better idea of how fast an outbreak and infection can occur.
